Grace Brooker, LSW (She/Her/Hers)
Grace holds a BA in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences from the University of Colorado - Boulder and an MSW from the University of Pittsburgh. She brings over 10 years of experience working and volunteering at domestic violence shelters and community-based non-profits, including nearly three years as the Shelter/Residential Therapist at the Women's Center and Shelter here in Pittsburgh. She has also spent three years working in a variety of healthcare settings, including audiology clinics and a senior center. Grace has extensive experience helping clients navigate PTSD symptoms, women's issues, interpersonal relationships, and building self-esteem.
Grace has extensive experience working with diverse clients of various races, ethnicities, sexualities, and religions, including LGBTQ+ clients and polyamorous/ENM individuals. For Grace, the best part of working in mental health is seeing a client feel comfortable enough to be their true, authentic self. She considers it an honor and a privilege to be welcomed into a client's inner world—holding space for the full spectrum of their emotions, from mourning losses to celebrating major victories, is both her greatest responsibility and her favorite part of being a therapist.
While much of her experience is rooted in domestic violence therapy, Grace also draws on her training in Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to tailor her approach to each client.
Outside of work, Grace likes to pursue anything that gets her adrenaline pumping. She's currently working on conquering her fear of heights through her love of bungee jumping and skydiving.
